FAQ

What do we do in PowerBuggies?

’PowerBuggies’ is a combination of cardiovascular, toning (strength and endurance) and flexibility (stretching) exercises.  We start with a warm up and then progress onto a cardiovascular session with a mixture of power walking or jogging.  If you do not feel fit enough for a jog, don’t worry as you can Power Walk. We then park up the buggies to do a resistance workout in front of the babies that will tone and strengthen your body.    We work the legs, bum, tummy, shoulders, and arms.   When we have completed this main workout we have a cool down and stretch.

We then head off for a refreshing drink or a cuppa.

What should I wear?

A sports bra (or bra providing good support), trainers and comfortable clothes.

Do I need a special buggy?

No. Your normal buggy will be just fine. As long as it is well padded and comfortable for baby and the handles are the right height for you it will be fine.  Obviously the heads of very small babies need to be well supported in their buggies at all times. I advise that you use a head guard like the ones you get in car seats.

What should I bring?

For you: Water bottle, mat or towel (for ground exercises).

For your child: buggy (any kind), snacks, toys, sun block, nappies, hat, blanket etc.

How soon after giving birth can I start exercising again?

For non surgical birth - 6 weeks and C-Sections - 10 weeks. However, you must get your doctor’s permission to participate in physical activity.

What do the babies do while we exercise PowerBuggies?

The older babies will hopefully find ‘PowerBuggies’ fascinating and hilarious as they watch their Mum work out.

The younger ones tend to find the movement makes them sleepy and they often stay in the buggies throughout the workout.

What if my baby cries or cranky during the class?

Don't worry, all babies cry.  You can get baby out of the buggy for a cuddle, feed, and change if you feel that is what is needed.  We use the same route for the exercise classes; you will catch up with other participants.   If you miss out too much, we will happily credit you another class.

What is the age range for children to come along?

Mothers with kids from 6 weeks old up to pre-school age.

How should I feel during the exercise?

You should be able to maintain a conversation whilst being slightly breathless.

How should I feel after the exercise?

You should feel good.  If you feel exhausted or are sweating excessively then you may have done too much.

How long does a PowerBuggies class last and what is the cost?

1 hour, AED 30 per class (Park entrance fee – Al Safa Park AED3-00, Jumeirah Beach Park AED5-00)

How to Register?

E-mail to obtain the P.A.R.Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) form.  Please fill and submit the form via e-mail or on the first day of your class.
